FITZROY WAREHOUSE

Fitzroy North Warehouse
ODD Architects
Wurundjeri Country / Due for completion 2025
Located off Nicholson Street, this warehouse conversion transforms a former shoe factory into a modern home.
A long entry leads to a double-height space, with a custom stair connecting all three levels. Original features, like steel windows, brickwork, and barn doors, are preserved as key stories of the design.
The home is spread across three levels; the ground floor consisting of a gallery and guest spaces, the first floor made up of the kitchen, living, dining, with an outdoor terrace and the second floor hosting private sleeping areas.
The interior keeps the building’s industrial character with exposed timber trusses, burnished oak joinery, and Verde granite. The kitchen is designed as a freestanding object, with a concealed butler’s pantry supporting the home’s focus on hosting.
Materials and textures are carefully chosen, with narrow oak floors, LED-lit shelving, and stone islands anchoring the main living areas. The terrace is framed in steel, with limestone cobblestone paving and a retractable pergola. Above, the master suite offers a simple, quiet retreat.
This project transforms an industrial space, blending historic elements with modern living.
